Let the Quran Speak Published on May 22, 2015
According to Ontario’s organ and tissue donation network, every three days, one person in Ontario dies while waiting for an organ transplant. This topic sparked my interest when I came across an article last month in the Toronto Star, about Fatima Baig, a 21 year old who met her donor’s family, five months after receiving her life saving liver transplant. On social media, she is now playing an active role on raising awareness about the importance of organ donation. we sit down and discuss the topic of organ donation from a quranic lens with Dr. Shabir Ally.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful article. Google

Organ donation on the principal of donation shouldn’t get in the way of religion.
This how faith should be.
Helping others is like charity or sadka.
God bless everyone

@Paru Ap I don't understand your comment about morality. Islam teaches morality, but you still should examine the morality of every situation. Not trivial ones like "would God want me to sit on the left or right of the couch when watching television?", but organ donation isn't a trivial subject, and this is worthy of discussion.

I say if you can help someone, do it. The organs you donate are taken after you die. You dont lose anything. There are millions of people who need this special donation of life. Its your choice whether you want to do it or not.

I would like to ask. My sister gave me a kidney 10yrs ago which are now deteriorating. When i was going through dialysis 9hrs throughout the night. The hospital gave quotations from the quaran that saving 1 life is like saving the whole of mankind and taking a life is like killing the whole of mankind. I am now going through end stage renal failure again and my brother and sister are not a match. The hospital said that if my family members blood dosent match but theres another family who also has a kidney to donate but isnt a match they could gift the kidney by me taking that families kidney and they take my family members kidney. Now the problem is my family member could be donating it to a non believer or from a different faith. Is it permissable to do this in islam that 2 lives can potentially be saved and i wouldnt have to go on dialysis. It kills me asking this question as i cant put another family member through this and no matter wat i say to deter them they are adament to save ther baby of the family. Allah blessed me with 2 children now 2 and 4. I will not be able to look after them if im on dialysis as it leaves you tired and bed ridden. Can you advise me so i can share the knowledge whether it is in my favour or not. It is my test from allah alhamdulilah. Jazakhallah

In Quran its written that (41:22) your eyes hands and ears will speak on the day of judgement about what deeds and wrong things u didn't and don't think Allah doesn't know about it.
So if someone donates his ears or eyes, how will they speak than on day of judgement ??

Buddy you're body turns in to bones when you die. If allah SWT can bring you back from dust, then I'm pretty sure he can replace a hand.

My opinion organ donation is a great sacrifice as long as the person is alive and decides to do it. Once someone passes away his body is a Amanat and it belongs to the creator. No one should be allowed to do khayanat because that body belongs to the creator if he decided he will take the person back with all his organs who are we do take that person apart rip his body take his organs out and give those to ???? Recipients. If you want to be an organ donor do it while you are alive if you let them steal your organs after your death you will be accountable in afterlife. May Allah all give us Hidayat Ameen

If you dont know the answer, simply say sorry for your limited knoledge, but dont lie about Quran. Quran is the book of past, present and future having all explanations but hidden from our eyes and keep opening with time. See the bows specified with each person name on it at time of feel, badar, and prophet Lot people is the technology of drones, laser and chip mechanism for targeting people.

Why should there be an islamic perspective at all about organ donation? Now youre just nit picking. If it helps people, if its not harming anyone, how can it be wrong? I say there should not be an islamic perspective at all about organ donation.

There is. Lemme point out some, you cannot donate an organ for economical reasons, to trade or money.. You can see people donating kidneys for money these days, which is totally forbidden. Secondly, we cannot donate an organ while we're living which would harm our life, i.e. our heart or liver, because that would end our life, but we can donate a kidney for someone who needs a kidney to survive, because one for us would suffice. This is the reason why there's a question about Islamic perspective, however these weren't answered in the video.
Signing up to be an organ doner is completely allowed as once you pass away, your organs would rot, if it would help another person, there's no question, it's allowed and would be the best thing to do.

There's a difference between selling a kidney and donating one. So, I really don't see your point there. Liver donations won't harm your life so you should really read up on that (they're partial). It's actually a lot safer to donate part of your liver than a kidney. There are rules in place about heart donations. You can't sign up for anything if you pass away. You have to sign up to be an organ donor before you die. My main concern is why is there so much nit picking going on when it comes to religion. Someone got an organ transplant and it saved their life and now they appreciate the value of such an action, so they advocate for it. Instead of appreciating the wonderful donation of life, this video is cracking down on whether this action is a good or bad thing.

We're all aware of the difference between selling an organ and donating one, but they're all called "donating." I guess you're aware of a news from India where a guy "donated" his kidney for an iPhone, which happened last year. Do you see my point there? People actually donate/sell their organs for money. Liver donations are complicated, I'm not so aware of that matter as I've seen debates among doctors saying it's safe, some say it isn't. If it's safe, it's totally allowed to donate, and recommended.
Someone has to be alive to sign up to be an organ donor, that's what I meant and I'm sure you understood that. (My grammatical error could've changed the attention, my bad)
Again, I don't think it's nit picking, it's about clearing a doubt. There are many videos and conferences held out there to educate people recommending organ donation, to make people aware that it's not forbidden because there are many Muslims out there thinking it's 'unlawful' to donate organs, which is not true. So I hope you understand why certain questions are being asked. She's a host and it's her duty to make questions that would frequently come up on people's mind so the answers given by the guest would clear the doubt (which is positive). That's the whole point, you would understand that if you think a bit deep into it.
However I stated the main rules because you spoke about why there should be an Islamic perspective on this. Throughout, Islam teaches us to donate, says it's a Muslim thing to do, and is highly recommended and we are motivated to do so. So more Muslims would follow up on being organ donors.
Once again, it's not nit picking, I'm sorry if you understood it in such a way, Islamic perspective is important on each and every aspect in life according to a Muslim and that's why there are videos on Islamic perspective on every simple thing out there.
I apologize for my weak English and the long message.

@Fazal Fariz well it's obvious the Indian media is using the word donation wrong. There's a difference between the word donating and selling and the word donate doesn't fit into any context where monetary or any other kind of gain is involved. There is nothing in the Quran about organ donation so there is no need to crack down on it. Being a medical student, I'm fully aware about the safety regarding liver donations. And it is nit picking because there isn't anything in the Quran about whether solar power is halal or electricity or all the things out there yet we still use them. Do you know what nit picking is? The videos that have an Islamic perspective on every single little thing out there are doing the exactly that -> nit picking.

Islam is a way of life and for that reason , there is an islamic prespective to every aspect of life so that a Muslim is guided to always to the right thing. Eating is also good but if excessive can be bad , so a Muslim is guided about what and what not to eat, how to eat ect.
If you are a Muslim yourself than you should rejoice that the Prophet pbuh has been sent with a scripture for you to follow and be guided from God himself. If you are not a Muslim than I dont see why this should concern you.

There should be an Islamic perspective on all aspects of life. Not everyone is educated or sound minded to make their mind up on such matters. Questions and answers like this can help people who need answers, even if you don’t see a need in it (others do).

I think the girl who is the host of this program has her head screwed on backwards. She should not think on the islamic perspective of something that donates life to an another. Why must she as a muslimah, question the islamic nature of something that does not have one and something that so effectively helps people on a day to day basis. She doesnt seem like an educated person to me. If she were so profoundly interested in educating the masses on islam and medicine, she shouldve become doctor herself. I hope next time she gets a blood transfusion or a vaccine, she questions the islamic perspective of it. Such uneducated people disgust me.

I suggest you get your head out of your ass, and maybe you'll see the light of day.
As a host, she asks Shabbir Ally questions that the viewer may have, and also questions which she would like a clear and substantial answer to. There is nothing wrong in questioning. Did she disagree in organ donations? No. So what's the problem?
Infact it's her questions that made me see many benifits of organ donation, which I never thought about before. Her questions and the points she raised, made me understand organ donation in a more broader and clear perspective through the Quran.
